POST CONFERENCE FIELD TRIP

WHEN: Leave Ulaanbaatar morning of the 18th of September and return on the evening of the 22nd of September (four nights, 5 days).

COST: $1,590/person

AVAILABILITY: 25 people maximum

HOW TO BOOK:

  2. If there is availability you will be sent a link for payment and separate registration form with a questionnaire.

WHO SHOULD COME: Everyone! But because of the roughness of the terrain and the  remoteness, the field trip is not recommended for people with underlying health or mobility issues. Note: there will be significant travel times off-road in four-wheel drive vehicles over coarse topography.

WHAT TO EXPECT: There will be two nights on the trip in hotels. One night will be in a tourist ger camp (shared bathrooms). One night will be tent camping (tents provided).

WHERE YOU’RE GOING: Central Mongolian geological sites highlighting intervals of significant organic-rich sediments; the world famous Flaming Cliffs dinosaur location; Tavan Tolgoi coal mine (100 m thick, coking coal deposit of Permian age).

WHAT IS INCLUDED: 

  • Accommodation for 5 nights (twin share).
  • For the night of tent camping, sleeping bag & foam mattress are provided).
  • On return to Ulaanbaatar 1 night at 5* hotel city centre.
  • Meals: Day 1 Lunch and Dinner; Day 2 to 4 Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner; Day 5 Breakfast and Lunch. (Please inform us if you have any special dietary needs).
  • Bayanzag Flaming Cliffs visits & nomadic culture experience in the Gobi Desert
  • Daily supply of bottled water (1.5L/person)

NOT INCLUDED:   

  • Travel and health insurances
  • Activities at sites such as Tavantolgoi   Mine visit
  • Sites and activities not mentioned in the program above
  • Personal expenses such as drinks, gratuities etc.

TEMPERATURES: Temperatures at night may dip to about 5ºC (or lower at higher elevations) and day time temperatures may be from 10 – 20ºC. Please review climate data for Mongolia to gage for yourself the range of possible temperatures.

WHAT TO BRING: Warm clothes that can be layered as there will be a range of temperatures. Sturdy shoes. Hat. Small day pack.
